DgN goes to ALX
Written by [DgN]G0dFath3r
Sunday, 10 November 2002
Image Once again it's that time.. Time for the largest clan to travel to another AsylumLan event. This go-round we're looking to be a little better prepared, than previous adventures. Read On for the scoop:
Saturday morning (Nov. 16'th) the plan is to meet at G0dFath3r's house, for departure at 9am. Where the release forms for ALX, will have been pre-printed and awaiting signatures. (All 8 year-olds will need their gardian to sign for them) Power strips will be handed out, along with patch cables.

Our BF42 team currently consists of the following people:
Togglegod
K0ld
Vaul
B0n3
G0dFath3r
MurderINC
FogHorn
Venal == Thor
WayKewl
Spider

This list will no doubt change as the week progresses. We have had a few offers for other players that we may jump on, since not all of us want in on this.

Going with us on this trip, for the first time leaving the safety & confines of the Catacombz will be "DaemonSpawn", the newly constructed server for Dungeon Inc. Catalog will of course be there, although Ev3rLast will be unable to attend. (Hurry Home D)

If you've made other plans for departure, and would like any of the above materials. (power strips, release forms, patch cables, etc.) Please See G0dFath3r on IRC. Best of Luck, and I'll frag you all when I get there! G0t Ductape?

sLANg gets a makeover!

Image It looks like our friends over at SemoLangamers have recently gotten a makeover on their site. Also, Nodnarb has posted a snazzy write-up of Catacombz v1.0.

SEMO has been a long time "hub" for LAN party's for this area, and with the number of links on their site as proof: These guys really know how to party! You can count on DgN showing at your "soon-to-be" next event!! :)

Good job on the site Brandon.

Note: G0dm0mma says "Hi".

DgN Elects the Battlefield 1942 Team
Written by [DgN]G0dFath3r
Friday, 08 November 2002
Image Tonight we elect our BF '42 team for the upcoming AsylumLan. This one has really snuck up on us. The rules for the event can be found on AsylumLan's homepage. Already we have 4 definate players, which will grow to 10 or more at tonight's (11-8-2k2) LAN party. If you would like on the TEAM, but can't make it out to the Dungeon tonight.. Speak now, or yadda yadda. Does anybody know how to fly one of these things??

Image Congratulations go out to all the contributing members of Dungeon Inc who made this possible. A nice write-up has been posted on AsylumLan's Website. Now that we have the kudos out of the way, we're on to step #2... *cue "We are the champions" music* Win those plaques for Clan [DgN]! A big thanks for Insane who handled the design & acquisition of the plaques.

More about Catacombz 1.0

Image I would like to start by giving a big thank you to the following people and groups:
Nodnarb of Semo LAN Gamers
He let us borrow a pair of Dell Powerconnect 3024 managed switches to go along with the one that we already had. Thanks to him we had a quality network set up, which kept the ping times low. He also helped me wire up the trunk lines between the switches. Thanks Brandon!

The Asylumlan crew.
These guys brought in some sweet game servers and came in full force. The UT deathmatch tourney could not have happened without them. Thanks guys!

Grimlock and Phildog of Heartland Gamers
These guys came down the night before and helped us set up our power runs and whatnot. Grimlock's experience in running power helped out alot. Thanks guys!

G0dfath3r's father (would that be GrandG0dFath3r? G0dGrandFath3r?)
Our certified electrician. Without him we would have never know what outlets were associated with what circuits and what the safe load was for that circuit. A very big warm thanks out to him!

All in all i think everything went quite well. Game ping times were low, max bandwidth accross the network was high, and a whole lot of fraggin' was goin' on.

The UT 1v1 DM tourney was pretty popular, we had 13 entries for it even though we got started on it late. The winner was [HAC]BloodSlash, with Smooth[GB] coming in second. These two were on their game, executing anyone who was unfortunate enough to have to face them. The final showdown between these two combatants started out looking in Smooth's favor, but BloodSlash quickly started showing Smooth what the ASMD was made for. The final score escapes me at the moment (this is being posted from my workplace, no notes here to look off of), but it was very heavy in favor of BloodSlash. To everyone who played in the UT 1v1 DM tourney, we salute you.

The Warcraft 3 tourney pitted Dungeon's own G0dfath3r and Kr3LL against Insane and Warhawk from Asylumlan. In the end G0d and Kr3LL showed them what DgN is all about (since noone from DgN won the UT DM, we had to win something ;} ).

We had a nice wide selection of games being played at any given time. Everything from Counterstrike to BF1942, Everquest to UT2k3, Tac Ops to Starcraft... it was being played. Personally, I had a blast

Keep checking back to the main page to keep an eye out for news on Catacombz 2.0 .... It's Coming!

Catacombz v1.0 is a smashing SUCCESS!

Image That was the general opinion of all participants of Catacombz v1.0!

Things however did get off to a rough start for the event. Power problems due to the lack of power cables were one of the very few oversights of the event. This was quickly rectified by the quick purchase of the needed equipment by Dungeon Inc.
Dungeon Inc. did however expect a small amount of power problems and was accurately prepared for the worst! The hosts of the event went as far as having a 5,000 Watt Generator handy as well as having a certified electrician on duty during the event!

Ping times were exceptional as the network was designed for that specific purpose. A few borrowed switches from Brandon Strickter of SemoLan Gamers made the network stable and speedy, the only reported choke were the servers that simply could not cope with massive file requests! Highest PLAYING ping times recorded officially were 25ms!

Overall the event was a good bonding experience for Dungeon Inc. Catacombz v1.0 proved that Dungeon Inc. could perform as a VERY solid and functional TEAM! Way to go guys!

We can expect good things from Dungeon Inc. as this will surly NOT be the last Catacombz event! However this would not be possible with out the help from other Clans and Teams. Dungeon Inc. learns from every event they participate in. Thanks to everyone!

Catacombz v1.0 Updates
Written by [DgN]MurderINC
Wednesday, 16 October 2002
Image October the 26th is nearing...what does that mean?  You guessed it - Catacombz v1.0, Dungeon Incorporated's first big LAN party.  We have extended the signup deadline through the 21st.  We are pushing for a 60 person event (which we are limited to, due to power and space restrictions) but that should be more than enough for some serious fraggin!  If you have not signed up, follow the Catacombz link to your left, and join us for 12 hours of gaming.  All the details are on that page.  Signups will be closed on the 21st, but walk-in's will be welcomed - although don't expect that for future events

That brings me to my next point.  I have been informed that if we can get 40 people registered and paid by next Monday (the 21st) then dinner is on us.  We are thinking either pizza or barbeque, but that is up to you guys.  So if you want some free food, please signup and by Monday.  If you have already signed up, but haven't paid yet, follow this link:      PayPal for Catacombz v1.0

We have also decided on the official tournaments.  We will have Unreal Tournament 1 vs. 1 deathmatch  and Warcraft III 2 vs. 2 tourneys.  Prizes will be awarded to the winners, as well as numerous other door prizes from the fine folks listed on our sponsors page.

That just about sums it up, so tell your friends and neighbors, cause you don't want to miss Catacombz 1.0 !!

Image Our Event is looking very promising. We have 37 people signed up so far with a little under a month to go. Should hit our goal of 60 with breeze. 37 people so far is great considering we have not promoted this event at all. But we will advertise at the upcoming Lanwar &nbspand our local EB in the marion mall. Also our signup for our event can be found on our Catacombz page. Remember that only those that have prepaid are assured a seat. After that its first come first serve.

Server Crash & Come Back
Written by [DgN]KR3LL
Tuesday, 01 October 2002
Image Well the bad news is the server went down. The good news is its back up with a vengence. The web server went from a little Pentium 150 to a Athlon 800. Our OS is also being bumped up to Redhat 7.3. The hardware upgrade is due to [DgN]The_Spider's contribution, thanks a lot The_Spider. The crash just gave us a good reason to finally do the upgrade.
