New Game Release just some thoughts and observations
With the recent release of Unreal Tournament 2004 and the start of gaming. The most popular maps so far have been the ONSLAUGHT maps with battles over control points and multiple vehicles to handle. While INVASION has been very time consuming and good for warm-ups to get everyone in the gaming mood. Most maps available in the single player mode have been so far avoided, though some are looking forward to reign supreme.
Please post comments and let us know what your fav maps are and if possible come join us |

With the shortage on lan play these past few months, members have been losing their gaming spirits. A few decided to try a quick fix.
Tired of not being able to play and own the same people as friday nights. Until the return on weekly gaming you can quench your thirst on the First DgN online dedicated server for CounterStrike. The Servers name is the exact same as the story headline. Please come and check it out and leave feedback for us. If all goes well maybe an upgrade for the server can be arranged but until then "Game On"
Also Big Thanks to the crew at Typhoon Servers who set this up quick and all the help on getting it good to go. http://www.typhoonservers.com/ |

Over? OVER? Its not over till we SAY it is! Or is it...
After G0dFath3r's suprise closing of the official home of the Dungeon there was hope from a few key members to keep it alive.
I for one was prepared to keep it alive offering to go into debt to furnish land and the construction of a building. However after review of the costs involved I have determined that the responsability would be too great to handle alone. I am un-sure if a joint venture would be acceptable as this has not been discussed.
I can secure a location here in Carmi, however due to the location and my occupation there would be strict rules and possably a waiver involved. This is probably my only option.
A monthly Friday night event could be planned in Eldorado depending on the costs involved and if everyone would like to put forth an event donation. This is probably the most logical option at this time. I will try to get more information and make reservations for an event of this nature for the middle of next month. |

On the Eve before [DgN]Everlast's departure, some where able to gather from fortunate snow day and work closings to pull of a total 12 hour game session.
First arrivals showing up at 2pm and last one leaving a little after 2am lead to a night of mutliple kills and upsets, on the upsets the LANE brothers pulled out a 3-2 win/loss record vs the team of togglegod and k0ld on N64 wrestling, with the defense of change of characters, the first series went to toggle and k0ld 2-0 and the last going 3-0 in favor of the LANES. Other than some old game and toggling stories being exchanged, the food, drinks and gaming consumed most of the afternoon and evening. Though the crowd not big, i believe most enjoyed the night and mutliple drop-ins were able to come by. Dela, see ya soon..but not soon enough. take care from the Cr3w |

"Welcome aboard gentlemen, I'm glad everyone could make it. To this last ride of the DgN" -- G0dFath3r's possibly historic words rang like the shot heard around the world. In one swift sentence, setting the mood and tone of what was about to come.
Drinking a glass of hemlock mere moments before the meeting this Friday, would have been more enticing than what had to be done. The hopes and dreams of DgN and all her glory were ubiquitously flushed tonight as the DgN class of 2004 was dismissed. The content of the speech reached the intended audiance, and was for their ears only. However, suffice it to say.. we all await a new hero to arise! One with leadership skills this time! Until then, I raise my beer in salute of a fine run as Southern Illinois's Best and Brightest LAN Gaming and all around propellor headed geeks! (R.I.P. DgN)
Note: Time to go get inked up again.. |

High spirits (and we're not talking 100 proof) were the order of the evening. As a sold out, standing room only, crowd of 20 gamers packed into the garage that is affectionately known as the most sophisticated Network Operation Center in Southern Illinois for under a quarter mill. DgN Style!
Between the 3'rd ID pics straight from IRAQ, and destoying 4 Party Pizza's from Mimmo's, life couldn't have gotten much better. Battlefield 1942 made a return with Ev3rLast demonstrating how it's done in real life. Oddly enough the projector came up MIA, but there was more than enough gaming to entertain even the most of sophisticants that showed. Fedora core 1 was demo'd by Ophidian which may not sound like much on the surface, but after hearing how the upgrade was done (live RH9 with the upgrade running in the background, next time you reboot BAM there's your new OS) Everyone had to ask the question... Now what? heheh The race is now on, to see who can get their game box converted to *nix first.. May the best geek win!
Note: Hungry why wait.. grab a sni... 4 Party Pizzas |

[DgN]Ev3rlast on a 14 day leave from Iraq retured to game and brought high spirits to the crew and a large crowd gathered at DgN to greet him back. at the end of the night a one time total high was 20 people.
As the night wore on some left and some went down, but G0dfather was the victim of the evening. after an exhausting day working and night of gaming and kicking back a few. g0dfather decided to rest. With #2 back stateside to lead the crew forward, g0dfather became the marque for all. Overall the night was a success with big cookout planned for next friday. So if you missed it, come out and join in with us next friday.
Note: LOOK, sharpies write on people too! |

2003 (MMIII) is over, and a quick look back at the upgrades that made Dungeon Inc the place to be for Evil Overlords in training, is in order. Where to begin..
First of all, the finishing of the garage insulation/drywall was a big step. All of the Category 6 wiring is well concealed yet easily managable thanks to team of highly decorated shade tree carpenters that made that dream a reality. You know who you are..
Secondly, storage.. without it the 4 PC workbench would still be pushing up daisy wheel printers. It's amazing what a little workbench can generate in the form of revenue for the DgN. There will be many upgrades to come, due entirely to the liberation of this beauty from the depths of the clutter bug.
Thirdly, the projector and movie screen was a most incredible addition. Friday Night Midnight Movie Matinee's was a smash hit for filler from the worn out PC games seemingly permanently embedded onto our Hard Drives.
Forthly, the surround sound system is deafening! Good call! goes out to [DgN]K0ld on this hot purchase. Well worth the money.
Fithly, the Linux game server was a piece of marvelous engineering by [DgN]Spider. BF42, UT, CS, Roger Wilco all coexisting on the same PC was amazing enough, but the stats put that extra DgN flare on it. Penguin power baby!
Lastly, but certainly not least, let's all give BIG SoIL round of DgN applause to Nottingham.. Server of the Year! w00t! With it's 1.2TB of lovin' it served us all well. In many ways it recruited more victi^H^H^Hvisitors than anyone else. Props to [DgN]L0ki, [DgN]Togglegod, & [DgN]K0ld for making Nottingham happen! As many of you know, two weeks ago the Nottingham Upgrade v1.1 was launched. Selling off all drives under 120GB went surprisingly well, and as of last night (Jan13,2K4), the last drive was sold. We are dangerously close to reaching our goal of 4x 250GB HDD's to be added. This will total Nottingham out at 1.84TB before Upgrade v1.2 is put into action. **hint: 7x 120GB HDD's will be hitting the DgN members market in roughly 2-3 months, at a rediculously low price you've come to expect**
All in all, 2003 was a fantastic year, and one we all can be proud of. The 2004 grapevine is buzzing as well: Fiber to Nottingham, DgN Garage reviews, DgN WebCams, Catacombz 3, 4 & 5 (we found a venue!), Linux based Media Box, new switch(es), and new DgN Jersey designs.. just to name a few. Stay Tuned!
Note: Look ma'.. I downloaded the internet! |

This friday had all the makings of a cheap porno. The DgN was host to several p'zonings before the real party began.
Here are the links to the screenshots of Friday night's Counter-Strike match. One, Two, Three, Four. As you can see, demonstrated in these few screenshots, there was plenty of humiliation being handed out on the handful of DgN faithfuls that showed up.
However, the party really started after midnight when a few un-intoxicated members showed up to hand out smack, and poor defensless Togglegod was accosted with a bananna dildo. The video of the attack is still under investigation, but sources report seeing yellow!
Bad hardware once again struck the DgN, this time B0n3's PC was the victim of the Rage Against the Monitor! A bad monitor was diagnosed as the culprit that took out k0ld's PC last week and this week b0n3's mobo&cpu fell flacid at the feet of the mighty 17 incher. SilkyLo's PC went through some software configuration but managed to return with his teammate Griff for the only War3-3corr match of the evening against G0dFath3r. If there are enough requests, we'll rip the bananna video.
Note: Bananna's - they're more dangerous than we thought. |
