Back to Business...

Well, after leaving the site dormant for quite some time, I guess it's time we re-open Catacombz.com to some regular updates. Things have been returning to normal at our events, so I figured it was time for the site to follow in the same footsteps.

First, some updates...

Our attendance has been climbing steadily at our Mini-Combz events. For a while, we were only seeing between 10-15 people show up, but have had in the mid-20's for the last few events. There have been many new faces show up recently, and of course several of the regulars from years' past are still with us. At the time of this writing, there is a total attendance of 22 at the January 23rd Mini-Combz. Because of the lack of decent new games out recently, the night has been mostly dominated by Warcraft 3 and CoD4. A few of us broke into a few matches of CoD5, but not many actually own it. Oh well, they say a true classic never dies. New patches/maps/addons add fresh sparks to our games at every event it seems, or sometimes someone just reinvents the way they play (6 on 1 War3 with MountainKing pulling the victory by himself? C'mon!!)

Catacombz, you say? When's the next big event? Well, as many of you know, we chose not to hold a Fall Catacombz event in 2008 due to low attendance. However, with the way things have been picking up, we have decided on a Spring event. Therefore, all of our eager fans can expect Catacombz 11 to emerge on May 30-31, 2009. Sign-ups will open approximately 2 months before the event, so watch the site to secure your seat. We are expecting to run several tournaments at this event including a 2 on 2 CoD 4 tourney, and perhaps a Warcraft 3 tourney of some sort. More to be decided later.

The main site isn't the only thing that's been dormant...our forums have been just the same. So I'd like to encourage each of you to chime in something, whether it's about current or upcoming events, or perhaps mindless banter in the General DIscussion area.

So, continue checking back on Catacombz.com on a regular basis, and we'll try to keep the site updated with new info on upcoming events and maybe even a fresh game or two for the arcade.

Registration will be ending this Wednesday. So if you plan on attending, but haven't registered yet, please do so as quickly as possible.

Also, please feel free to post in our forums if you have any suggestions or games you would like to see played at this event. The event itself will begin at 10am this Saturday, June 21.

See you there!

Catacombz X!!!

It's all downhill from here. Our next event coming up will be Catacombz X on June 21. However, we need for anyone planning to attend to sign up as soon as possible. We want this to be a truly great event, but a great event requires great planning. So, get signed up, and encourage your friends to do the same. Spread the word to every gamer in and around Southern Illinois. Let's try to max this event out! We still have some ideas for expanding the event sitting on the back-burner, but in order for it to be truly considered, we need to see our attendance get back up.

Also, I'd like to remind everyone to make use of our forums. Got some ideas for Catacombz? Post em! We want to hear from all of you. What are your thoughts on what we can do to improve our events? One thing that comes up for every event is "Will there be tournaments?". We would love to start holding regular tournaments at our events. However, the biggest limitation that we run into is participation. If there is enough people participating, we will very likely have a tournament or two at this event.

Last, but certainly not least...we'd like to send a big CONGRATS to Mr. and Mrs. K0ld on the arrival of their baby boy. He was born yesterday, May 20, 2008 at 3:27pm, is 22in long, and weighs 8lbs 14oz.

Ok people...time for an update.

Our next Mini-Combz event is coming up in about 2 weeks.  It will be on May 16 at 7pm at the Eldorado Community as always. So get off your butts, get off the damn WoW account, and come down and do some gaming with us! CoD4 will likely be the game of the night, as well as several other favorites.

Also...registration for our next big event is now open. It is Catacombz X...our TENTH Catacombz event. We'd really like to see a good turn-out to this event, so get signed up now!
