Updated Event Schedule

Hey people, I've updated the event schedule up to and including Catacombz 13.0, and also copied over the directions to the new building at SIC into the schedule as well. We hope to see you at the events.

On another topic, every once in a while I try to gather input from all of you regarding what games you'd like to see played at our events. And so I bring this same question to you once again. We want to avoid monotony as much as possible at our events. Granted, there haven't been a great deal of good PC games released in a while, but there are options out there. What would YOU like to see played at a LAN party? Click the link below and chime in on our forums. Regardless of whether or not you're a regular attendee of our events, I'd really like to hear your input.

2010 - A Time for Change
Written by DeZ

Happy New Year everyone! It's now 2010. It's a new year, a new decade, and generally time for change all around. In fact, for the first time in years, everyone's favorite local LAN party (read: Catacombz/Mini-Combz) will be changing venues. For the first event of 2010, our Mini-Combz event on January 15 will be held at Southeastern Illinois College inside the conference center of Building G. In case you need directions, not to worry because I've got you covered (at least I hope the following gets you there!). If you are traveling east through Harrisburg on route 13, just continue straight through the city and you'll find College Road (along with a big sign) on the left about 5 miles east of Harrisburg. If you're coming from Eldorado on route 142, continue south out of Eldorado and College Road will veer off to the right shortly after the intersection with route 45. Here's a link to the college so you can find your way there:

Next, you'll need to know where to go on-campus. For starters, you'll want to enter the college using the SOUTH entrance, not the primary North entrance. Additionally, I've provided this cheesy nifty little map to help you navigate your way to the correct building. (click map for larger view):

SIC Map

That about does it. However, if you think you may need further assistance finding the new venue, please don't hesitate to contact me. Also, be sure to pass this information along to any of your friends that may be attending as well. We'd hate for people to show up at the old location ready to game, only to find the building empty. We had a great turnout for our final event of 2009, and are really hoping to keep that momentum moving forward throughout 2010, so come on out and get your frag on!

Sponsor Update

Hey people...

I've got one more quick update for you. I've just been notified by the owner of GameSkulls (one of our sponsors) that the price has been reduced on their GS-1 Tactical Helmet for the holidays. It is now on sale for $59.95, which is 33% off of the standard retail price of $89.95. Furthermore, if you enter the coupon code "CATACOMBZ" (no quotes) at the checkout, you will get an additional $10.00 off of your order, bringing it to $49.95! As an added bonus, they are also including a free GameSkulls T-shirt as well as an XBox 360 or PS3 adapter. This package is only good through the end of the year, so act now if you'd like to get your hands on this great offer. If you haven't seen this item yet, head on over to their website (www.gameskulls.com ) and check it out!

Hey there everyone...I figured it was about time I post an update, so here we go!

First of all, I'd like to thank everyone that came out and made Catacombz 12.0 a great event! Even though our attendance was down a little from previous events, we kept the gaming action going through the night, and had a great time doing so. We even managed to get a 3 on 3 Call of Duty 4 tournament rolling. The action was fierce and competitive, but in the end, the team of Stric9, sockgoblin, and Intrepidus took the victory. Congratulations guys! Also, our sponsors really pulled through for us once again for this event. They are kind enough to support us, so please support them!

Our next Catacombz event will likely be sometime around May or June of 2010, so please keep an eye on the site for important details about that event. However, don't forget that we still hold monthly Mini-Combz events as well. Just as a reminder, these events are only $5.00 to attend, and that covers your pizza and soda cost as well. Our next Mini-Combz is currently scheduled for December 18, so be sure to check it out.

At some point in the next couple of months, I will be migrating Catacombz.com over to a new server. During this time, you may have trouble accessing the site. However, while the site is offline, I will continue to post important information to our various social networking sites as well. If you have not already added us on those pages, please do so to help us expand our network. Also, be sure to check out the newest social networking site that we've recently joined called Meet A Gamer. This is a site that is built by gamers, for gamers, intending to connect gamers from all over the globe on a single networking site. Check it out, and be sure to add us.

Finally, for all who attended Catacombz 12.0, I have added a new poll to the page for you to voice your opinion. I hope that you all had a good time, but if you didn't, please let us know why. We are constantly trying to improve our events, and welcome all comments and constructive criticism on how to do just that.

That's all for now. See you at the events!

Hey there once again people. I received a large shipment of sponsor goods in today, and was able to do a preliminary total value of our sponsor merchandise. As usual, I don't want to give away any surprises just yet, but I will say two things. First of all, the sponsors were VERY good to us. Second, the preliminary total value I came up with is over $1,000 in prizes to be claimed. We've got some very nice items here, and I'm sure you will all be very happy if you win something. Also, and as always, please give our sponsors your support. We truly appreciate them supporting us!

Registration is still open, and there are still several seats available. So, what are you waiting for? Get registered today and experience the LAN party rockin Southern Illinois since 1996!!

Hey everyone. I just wanted to post a couple of quick reminders for you. Catacombz 12.0 is rapidly approaching, but we do still have 19 seats available. However, please note that registration closes next week on Wednesday, October 14. After that the late payment fee of $25 (instead of $20) will be charged for anyone who has not paid. So if anyone is waiting until the last minute to register and pay, that time is drawing near.

See you at the event!

This is just a reminder that we have a Mini-Combz event this Friday, usual time and place. This will also be the last Mini-Combz before our next Catacombz event, so it will give some of you the opportunity to pay your registration fee.

We still have plenty of seats open for Catacombz, but we are now less than 1 month away. So, if you've been waiting to register, please do so as soon as possible.

Big Update! Mini-Combz, Catacombz, and More!
Written by DeZ

Hello once again to the faithful minions of the Catacombz. I've got a bunch of things to report, so I'm just going to jump straight into it.

Most importantly, I'd like to say "Welcome Home!" to the 333rd Illinois National Guard Military Police Unit. These fine soldiers have been stationed in Afghanistan for the past year, but are now back with us here in the States. Among these soldiers was our very own "Maverick". To Mav and the other guys and gals of the 333rd, we're glad to have you all back home!

Our next Mini-Combz event is scheduled for September 25. It will be at the usual time and place, but more importantly, this will be the only Mini-Combz before our next Catacombz event. Which brings me to my next point...

Registration for Catacombz 12.0 is now OPEN! We were uncertain for a while if we were going to hold an October Catacombz event this year, but Catacombz 11.0 was such a smashing success, we just couldn't resist. The event will be held from 10:00am on October 17 through 5:00pm on October 18. If you are planning on attending, we would appreciate you registering as soon as possible. We are a little more crunched for time than usual, so we want to make sure that we take all actions possible to make this event even better than Catacombz 11.0. So, spread the word to everyone you know! Let's keep these events rockin!

I'd like to take a moment for a quick and shameless plug for one of our newer attendees, SirReal. He runs MartinFusion.com and sells custom decals, bumper stickers, appliques, and other items. He brought some samples of his work to our recent Mini-Combz, and it was quite exceptional. So if you are looking to snaz up your computer case, or just perhaps decorate your walls at home, take a look at his website and see what he has to offer.

The last thing I'd like to mention is a game update for Battlefield 2. They have released a 2GB patch taking the game to version 1.5. Among the numerous bug fixes, they've also included their two booster packs (Euro Forces and Armored Fury) for free in this patch. Being a big fan of the BF series, I'd like to see some of this played out our upcoming events. The patch can be downloaded here. Also, if you do not currently own BF2, but would like to get it for a decent price, Newegg is currently offering it for $9.99 with free shipping. The link to this is here.

I believe that's all for now. We hope to see you all at Catacombz 12.0!
