It's been long overdue, but the time is finally here. Catacombz.com has finally gotten a much needed makeover. We're actually using a completely new CMS (Content Management System) than before, but I tried to keep it as similar as possible to the old design, while still exploring all the new options we now have available. While virtually everything has been transferred into the new design, I've left the old design in tact at www.catacombz.com/archive in case anyone starts feeling nostalgic. However, that site will no longer be used, and no further updates will be posted to it. In this new format, I've gone to great lengths to ensure a seemless transition for you, the end user. All user accounts, passwords, e-mail addresses, and forum posts have been transferred into the new database for use on this site. So, feel free to login using the same username/password you've used previously. What else is new? Well for one, I've added a new flash arcade with score-keeping abilities to the list. You must be logged in for it to record the score to your user name, otherwise it will just get credited to "ArcadeGuest". So, login and give it a shot. I've got over 50 games online and ready to play right now, and plan to add more as time allows. If you place a high score in the arcade, it will automatically post that score to our new shoutbox. It's a bit more fancy than our last one as it auto-refreshes every so often to pull new messages being posted, without refreshing the entire page. Next, I've added a script called Community Builder. I'm not 100% how popular and/or useful it will be, but it will allow anyone to create a gaming profile, if you choose to do so. Just click on "Your Profile" to access these features. There's also a way to create "links" amongst friends. I'm not really sure what it's for yet, but play around with it and check it out. Finally, I've added a new script for Catacombz registration and maintenance complete with an online seatmap. Registration for Catacombz 9.0 is currently open, but I haven't made the official announcement yet because I still have a few more things to add to this section. So, check things out and let me know what you think. Also, please report any bugs you may find to me. I'm fairly confident that I've worked out most of the major bugs, but I'll do my best to keep this site running strong. I still have more things to add before I can call it 100% ready, but I wanted to get it online so all of you could get involved and check it out. Later... |

Let me start off by saying i think this was one of the best Catacombz we have had in a long time and i have a lot of ppl to thank.
We had a great turn out of 46 gamers which i believe is a new high and a sunday roster of 32 gamers which is by far the most we have had stay over to game throughout the event.
Tons of games were played. As always the classics (COD:UO, BF1942, Warcraft 3) plus some fear:combat, Joint Ops, Dawn of War, Trackmania and i cant remember the rest.
I think the only way it could of been better was if we would of had some more sponsors come through for us on the prizes.
Now to the thanks, first off to all the gamers - if you didn't come out and provide the atmosphere that is Catacombz we wouldn't have these events, Also to the guys who help setup and tear down the help is always greatly appreciated . DeZaStR - if you were not around we wouldn't have the great website, nametags, stickers and everything else that you do for Catacombz and the events.
Again i want to thank everyone for the great event and i hope you had as good a time as i know a lot of us did, and remember if you have any ideas, opinions or complaints don't be afraid to contact myself or get on our forums. |

The time is nearly here once again. The next installment of Southern Illinois' longest running LAN gaming tradition is right around the corner. This coming Saturday morning will begin the onslaught of caffeine, insults, duct-tapings, and of course all the gaming goodness you can cram into a weekend.
The event is ALMOST sold out. With only one seat left, it's very likely that we will be at max attendence. However, I'd like to remind anyone else who's thinking of signing up that we do have a waiting list put in place for our events. This means that even if we get 50 signed up now, someone could cancel, opening the seat for the next person on the waiting list. Just sign up as normal and watch the site. However, if you are already signed up, but will NOT be attending, please cancel your registration as soon as possible so others may have the opportunity to come.
See you all at Catacombz 8.0! |
